Instituto de Computação - Unicamp invites everyone to discuss Data Science with Transparency in a lecture by Profa. Marta Mattoso (PESC).

Lecture: Data Science with Transparency - the Role of Provenance Data

Data Science starts with the analytical processing of data to generate knowledge or perspectives on data in order to aid decision making. Several initiatives have been taken to make recommendations, based on algorithms, for actions and decisions transparent, but there are several challenges. This presentation discusses the use of automatic provenance data collection in the processes and systems involved in Data Science. The provenance, by presenting the description of the path that led to the conclusive result, complements explanations, interpretations, contributing to the transparency of data and processes in Data Science.

Marta Mattoso is Full Professor at COPPE-Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. His subjects of interest in Data Science include aspects of bulk data management. Among the interests are provenance data to support human analysis during the parallel execution of many computing tasks in high-performance environments.

It will be 17/09 (Friday) at 2pm. See it on Youtube by clicking here.
