Students from the Nautilus Team won the Academic Challenge of the Digital Transformation Workshop in the Naval and Offshore Industry of SOBENA - Brazilian Society of Naval Engineering.

Coordinated by COPPE professors Claudio Miceli (PESC) and Jean David (PENO), Nautilus is the competition team in Submarine Autonomous Robots at UFRJ. It is the only South American representative present at Robosub - a traditional underwater robot competition sponsored by the US Navy.

With the work entitled "UFRJ/Nautilus - Towards a modular and low cost autonomous underwater vehicle for the oil nad gas industry", the students showed the development of the project, emphasizing the use of Artificial Intelligence to solve problems in the oil and gas area.

The team has devoted a great deal of effort to the development of innovative software solutions to solve problems for the Naval Industry as a counterpoint to costly hardware solutions. This role earned the team ninth place in 2021.

The following participated in the team: Gabriel S. Matos, Gabriel P. Barreto, Geovanna L. B. Pimentel, Larissa R. Santos, Marcos V. T. P da Silva, Matheus R. de Souza and Henrique Serdeira; in addition to the two coordinating professors.

Congratulations to all!
