INVITATION FOR POSITION PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION
The objective of the 1st
Experimental Software Engineering Latin American Workshop – ESELAW’04 is
to provide a forum where researchers and practitioners can report on and
discuss new research results in the area of experimental software engineering.
This Forum intends to bring together
The workshop encourages the exchange of ideas to
understand, from an empirical viewpoint, the strengths and weaknesses of
software engineering technologies. The workshop focuses on the processes,
design and structure of empirical studies as well as the results of specific
studies. These studies may vary from controlled experiments to field studies,
from quantitative to qualitative ones. (See motivational paper!)
ESELAW is
being supported by the Brazilian Computer
Society (Sociedade Brasileira
de Computação – SBC) and the IEEE – The Technical Council
on Software Engineering (TCSE), which is part of the IEEE Computer Society. TCSE has two overriding aims: to
contribute to its members' professional expertise, and to help advance software
engineering research and practice. TCSE works to advance our understanding of
software engineering, enhance the careers of professionals involved in research
and practice, and create an effective network connecting its members to each
other and to related organizations. Please see http://www.sbc.org.br/ and http://www.tcse.org/ for more details.
***
ACTIVITIES
The workshop
program includes the presentation of a short-course on Experimental Software
Engineering, an invited talk, discussion of selected position papers and
research groups’ cooperation session. ESELAW represents a satellite event of
SBBD/SBES.
*** TOPICS
OF INTEREST include, but are not limited to:
*** POSITION
PAPER FORMAT
A position
paper describes an ongoing research work, presents a
research group, and raise issues that are useful to start a discussion about
new research ideas. Position papers have a maximum length of two pages and
authors of accepted papers will be given approximately 8-10 minutes to present
their ideas. Submissions must be in English language using the IEEE based
conference format (http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm).
The accepted position papers will be recorded in a companion volume (CD-ROM)
and also at the ESELAW portal as is; no changes permitted. Files
must be submitted to eselaw@cos.ufrj.br.
Please, editable PDF or rtf files only.
